Travel Post-Covid-19

“As movement around the world grows more and more restricted, it's hard to imagine what travel will look like when it eventually ramps back up.” (Marnie Hunter) The virus is spreading rapidly, impacting the whole globe and many industries. However, the travel industry has rebounded from past crises, so I think once the economy reopens, it will bounce back again.

Due to Covid-19, we have stayed home for two months, we work from home, study from home, and everything is moved online. Adventurous people and travelers might find it difficult to stay home as all travel plans are canceled due to the virus. Therefore, once the pandemic ends, people will be ready to travel, but their travel habits will change.

In the article “What will Travel Look Like after Coronavirus?by Marnie Hunter, the author states that people will be more cautious about what they do, and want to see physical changes made to make travel safer. They will be more likely to stay in hotels than vacation rentals, look for lower airfares and emptier planes, and increase sustainability. Additionally, they want to see steep drops in flight ticket and hotel prices to get them moving again.

I agree with Marnie Hunter that people’s travel habits will change in a post-Covid-19 world. As a customer and someone who likes to travel, I also care about cleanliness, especially after coronavirus. If I was to travel or go to any public place, I would bring my own hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. I also expect airlines, cruises, and hotels to follow these safety precautions by distributing hand sanitizers everywhere, and regularly disinfecting hard surfaces. Thereby, I will be more comfortable, and feel safe when traveling.

In my opinion, once the public health crisis improves, restrictions on travel are lifted, airlines, cruise companies, and hotels will restart their services by advertising and providing deals, discounts to attract customers. As the travel demand declines, planes become emptier, and airfares are dropping drastically, companies would want to keep their prices low, and increase them gradually over time, in order to restart their services.
Flying Sanitized: How Air Travel May Change Forever After Coronavirus
Likewise, with a ban of non-essential travel, shelter-in-place orders, and some countries in complete lock-down, over-tourism has ended, the Earth is now thriving without humans in the way, which indicates that we should get back to travel in a muc more responsible and ethical way when this crisis ends. In the article, How Can We be Sustainable Post-Covid 19?by Chloe Berge, the author indicates the importance of sustainable travel and the good side of Covid-19 is the Earth being able to breathe again.

From my standpoint, human activity has a huge impact on the planet, and how we travel is a part of it. Our lives have been forced to slow down due to the virus. I think after this, we should consider a slower and more thoughtful approach to travel, in order to protect our planet. By this I mean that we should take a longer trip per year, instead of taking five or six shorter ones. This is to save our money, and reduce our carbon footprint by reducing air and car travel. In addition, we should increase the quality of tourism by taking time to understand the destination, its people, and culture better, and have a positive impact.

Traveling is important to life. It is beneficial and educational. While traveling, you can learn about the world, new places, culture, and people. Although the coronavirus has hit the travel industry particularly hard, experts believe that it will bounce back again when this crisis ends. However, it’s important to be responsible, sustainable, and more cautious when traveling, especially after the coronavirus crisis, in order to protect ourselves, as well as our planet.

    1. I believe that once this pandemic is over, many travelers will be more cautious in talking to people or even going in contact with others. Many travelers will be prepared in bringing any sanitize materials so that they can be clean. This pandemic has caused many people to suffer economically and I feel like travelers or tourists will likely stay in one place to expand their knowledge with the culture and language. I agree that many people may bring other things for their trips and to be clean in being the hotel because many people have stayed in the hotel's rooms and may never know what type of health issues or any infections that may come in contact with. Overall, traveling can improve your health and from cutting down any stress that may come in life. Also, health benefits such as moving around instead of sitting all day long which can make your body feel better.

  2. I think that the pandemic has definitely left its mark on the tourism industry, with less people willing to risk travelling too far from their homes, or cities and countries around the world closing high-traffic areas to prevent the spread of the virus. In a post-COVID world, I think many people who still can afford to travel will be weighing the risk of going somewhere else with the benefit that doing so will offer. For example, I think that hotels and restaurants will have to advertise their sanitization protocols so that guests can be confident that their risk of exposure to the virus is minimized. I also think that the tourism industry will be negatively impacted in general, since people might not have as much disposable income in order to travel, especially if they lost their jobs. However, I think that a plus side of the fall in tourism is that many natural wonders have had some relief when it comes to over-tourism.

  3. I think after the pandemic is over, more people would be cautious when it comes to traveling. It will probably take quite some time for the travel industry to start flourishing as it was before because people will be more careful and not want to travel in fear of COVID-19. However, if people do decide to travel again I think they would put more effort into their plans for cleanliness. I agree that airlines, cruises, and hotels should follow safety precautions for guests to feel safe and clean when traveling because it could encourage more people to travel. When people see that the travel agencies care about these safety precautions, perhaps the travel industry will start to flourish again because they feel safe. In addition, I think it's a great idea to slow our travel plans to save our beautiful planet because humans have ruined the planet.

  4. I remember hearing people saying, " after the pandemic when things go back to normal..." a lot at the beginning of quarantine but I think the longer we are in quarantine the more we start to realize that even after COVID-19 things will not go that to the normal we once knew. I agree that COVID-19 will change the way people travel and think that other things will change as well. I believe these changes are for the better this pandemic has made people more aware of how easy it is to catch something and how important sanitizing is. It was really interesting to see how these changes would apply to traveling. I agree that I would want to see more cleanliness in airports, planes, cruise ships, etc. I think travel companies will now prioritize sanitizing because they will be aware that it is a big concern for their customers.

  5. The Coronavirus affected our lives for a long period of time. I canceled my travel plan during the spring break. Although it is regrettable, I think personal safe is more important. I definitely agree with the point of the author that is people will change their ways of traveling. And I think the epidemic has already changed the way people travel. When I was on the aircraft, I wanted to sit at a place that no one else was around. In addition, the epidemic made me realize that I should travel more when the time and environment are available. It will be nice to see the rest of the world. In the other hand, I think the travel bans and stay at home actually make the planet better since there are less garbage and tourists. I think people will travel more after the epidemic is over, but everyone should also aware of keeping the environment clean and their own safe.
